Measuring and Fitting of Granite Kitchen & Bathroom Worktops
What you need to know before receiving your Granite Worktop!
Please ensure cabinets are secured firmly to the wall, are level, have sufficient braces and that the floor can support the weight of the granite.
Final locations of taps, sinks, hobs or any other fittings must be decided upon before templating.
Please ensure cabinets are not moved after templating. Changes after we have taken our measurements and template are likely to cause significant difficulties and could be very costly to the customer.
Joints
By its nature, granite is very heavy material. So it is not practical to provide lengths of worktops in excess of 2.5 meters. We also reserve the right to add joints where necessary to conform to health and safety guidelines or where access is restricted.
Delivery
We can normally deliver and fit within 4 weeks of an order being placed.
Handling
Our fitters take great care when working with granite. However, granite is very heavy and difficult to handle in a delicate manner. Particularly in smaller rooms and other confined spaces. It is therefore essensial that any unnecessary obstructions, such as cupboard unit doors and fronts etc, be removed prior to installaion commencing. We cannot be held responsible for damage to such items when they are left in place.
Sinks
Please ensure suitable space and support is provided for any sinks. If the fitters need to carry out additional work to accommodate a sink, they may need to make an additional charge.
Our fitters will screw and glue stainless-steel sinks to the granite worktop using the sink clips that are normally supplied with the sink. They will also seal, with clear silicone, the joint between worktop and sink.
Splashbacks
Please note that walls are rarely straight or square. Consequently, there may be small gaps between the granite worktop and the wall. Therefore, we advise that a splash back is fitted with the granite worktop, or the wall tiled after the worktop is fitted.
Connection/reconnection of appliances
We fit sinks and hobs to the granite worktops but you should ask a suitably qualified plumber and/or gas fitter to connect the water and gas supply.
Defects and imperfections
Granite is a natural material and on rare occasions can have defects or imperfections due to the natural working characteristics of materials supplied. There are many small chips which arise in the course of manufacture, delivery and installation. We reserve the right to use chemical removers or fillers, some of which may already be present in the granite worktop, to affect any repairs.
